JOÃO
MAIO

Atados & Amados

The Pele e Pelo collective is born from the meeting of Inês Rato and João Maio, two artists who work with the body as matter for desire, conflict, instinct, and memory, in a dialogue between the sexual and Queer imaginary and an imaginary of animal nature.

Atados e Amados sets out to explore the phallic figure that binds, ties, and holds the other. But bound for what reason? Love? Violence? Emotional dependency?

The skin holds onto that sensitive identity, the part that feels the knot. The fur is what in it refuses to stop being animal, even while bound.
